The Purpose of this Blog

Let me say firstly that by my creating this blog and format does NOT mean I am the expert and I do not claim any particular authority on the subject. I have, however since college, had a keen interest in parenting and as an older parent I desire to lend to others the good things I have learned. And as a parent still, I want to learn from you.

The purpose of this blog is to share with each other the teachings of a Perfect Heavenly Father and for you to share a scripture and what it has taught you in fulfilling your role as a parent.
For Example...
Consistency in parenting is critical to our children. It eliminates confusion and makes sure, as parents we are making decisions based on principle, not whim. And that both parents are united. Then as our children think through an issue and ask themselves what would Mom and Dad say, they can learn and anticipate the right answer and adapt the principle for their own.

Alma 7:20 I perceive that it has been made known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot walk in crooked paths; neither doth he vary from that which he hath said; neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left, or from that which is right to that which is wrong; therefore, his course is one eternal round.

Ether 3:12 And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.

Robyn noted the other day that she believes the reason we have not had arguments with our children is that the rules have never changed. They were specifically communicated to all of our children and the family guidelines and expectations never changed from one child to another or from one year to another. They knew what was expected from a very very young age and that became the "norm" for our family.
